Q&A with Reka

What is the best thing about being a Physiotherapist?
Seeing clients leave the treatment room with a smile!
What sports are you interested in?
Gymnastics, martial arts, rugby, volleyball, athletics.
What sports do you do?I used to do dance and twirling and even became a young coach. Now I am training for brazilian Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing. I also ride a motorbike.

What is your favourite muscle and why?
The forearm muscle groups due to the fact that not many people focus on them to stretch. They only realise when they start to lose grip strength or having symptoms such as 'Tennis or Golfer's elbow'. I always educate my clients why it is important to look after them.

What is your favourite joint and why?
The shoulder joint. Possibly because there are a lot of injuries associated with the shoulder, due to a mixture of sports injuries or just by poor posture. For my Undergraduate Degree Dissertation I devised a home based exercise program to improve posture and prevent further shoulder pain/damage.

What is your favourite stretch for the body?
Pigeon pose. It focuses on the glutes and hip flexors to release. Also, there are some different stages to progress this stretch and vary the movements.
Who is your favourite sportsperson at the moment and why?
(This question was really hard to answer) Owen Livesey. He is a British Judo, submission wrestler and mixed martial artist. He is an absolute Beast, watching him fighting and teaching seminars are fascinating. His professionalism is amazing and his approach in teaching is unremarkable.
What are your sporting goals?
My sport goal is to reach the highest level in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and manage to compete in each rank. // Teach again or be part of rhythmic gymnastics / twirling. // Lift 120kg deadlift and back squat.
