On 15 December, Jess attended the first meeting for the St Clare Hospice 2018 London Marathon runners. St Clare’s will have eight people running the marathon for them in 2018. The group is a mixture of first time marathon runners and experienced runners, but all hold St Clare’s close to their hearts.
The evening was a great success!
Clare Gallagher (SV sponsored athlete) was a guest speaker for the runners, sharing her experience of running the 2017 London Marathon as well as 11 other races!
In 2017, Clare took on the challenge of completing one race per month all in the efforts to raise money for St Clare’s. Clare had many tips for the runners that covered both training and the day of race itself. Her talk sparked great conversation between all the runners and brought out a great wealth of knowledge between everyone.
Jess spoke to the runners about injury prevention and strengthening as well as the importance of a proper warm-up and cool down. The runners were well engaged in asking questions and learning different practices that can help to keep injury at bay.
The St Clare’s fundraising team put on a great information night for the runners and each runner seems to be starting off on the right foot!
We’re looking forward to helping each of the runners in their journey to the start line!
