SV client, Mark Bennett, has recently returned from Paris, where he completed the Paris Marathon in 5h48m.
Mark - who has been seeing Jess and Sophie for maintenance treatments - is raising funds for Children With Cancer UK, the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer.
Mark first came to see Jess in February 2017 with calf problems as a recreational half marathon and marathon runner.
He had suffered a fracture to the right fibula in 2015 which resulted in an infection and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) causing significant expansion to the whole of the right leg.
After careful monitoring by the specialist they advised Mark to continue with his running, as sport would help to prevent the veins and valves worsening.
Mark is an inspiration to us as he has completely taken this in his stride and is coping tremendously well - it could have been very easy for him to 'throw in the towel' and stop running altogether.
He'll be running the London Marathon on 22 April and the Great North Run on 9 September. London will be his fifth marathon!
Mark stopped by today for a post-Paris sports massage and kindly gave us his race number for the 'Wall of Fame' in our Loughton clinic. Thanks, Mark! We're so proud of you. See you at mile 25!
