On 12 November, Sophie and Annabel had the pleasure of meeting the amazing team of people who will be running the London Marathon on behalf of Saint Francis Hospice (SFH) in April 2020.
The information evening, held at the hospice in Havering, is the first of four evenings between now and April that the SV team will attend in order to offer the runners advice on:
Pre and post training tips
Optimum recovery advice
What to do if they feel an injury is coming on
The benefits of foam rolling
The benefits of a maintenance sports massage
And so much more!
The event, organised by SFH events co-ordinator Chris Franklin, was also attended by sports psychologist, Andy Preston, and sports nutritionist, David Dixon, who were on hand to offer their expert advice.
This is the seventh consecutive year that the SV Sports Therapy team has supported Saint Francis Hospice and their London Marathon runners.
"The hospice is very close to my heart," Sophie says. "My Uncle sadly passed away here when I was only 7 years old and I remember visiting Uncle Bob at the hospice and remembering how peaceful it made me feel. Since SV became an official London Marathon sports injury clinic in 2013, I wanted to give back and help like-minded runners who are about to embark on, not only a huge fundraising journey but a huge physiological journey with running marathon training over the next 16-20 weeks. If we at SV can be a part of their running journey and help them along the way to ensure they reach the start line AND cross the finish line, this would mean the world to us. We are passionate about helping people and especially passionate about helping people who are fundraising for amazing causes like Saint Francis Hospice. Here's to the next 20+ weeks!"
