Reka, is our amazing Senior Physiotherapist.

What is your goal for our SV clients?
My goal is to help prevent any injury and support our client’s journey.
Who do you love to serve the most?
I love to serve clients from a mixed gender group, who enjoy living a fit and healthy lifestyle. A client’s occupation can have a massive impact on their posture. I love to guide and educate them with treatment and exercises that they can do at their leisure at home or at work.
Reka, let’s talk about pain! How do you describe it?
Pain is most often grouped by the kind of damage that causes it.
What types of pain are there?
The two main types are pain caused by tissue damage (also called nociceptive pain) and pain caused by nerve damage (also called neuropathic pain). A third category is psychogenic pain, which is pain that is affected by psychological factors, for example: stress from work environment.
Also, pain can be described as Acute and Chronic, depending on its duration. Acute pain is of short duration and normally resolves when the body heals itself, for example: after injuries.
Chronic or long-lasting Pain, this may heal (after 3 months of acute pain), but still experience a painful sensation, for example: arhtritis or joint pain.
Why do Therapists ask about pain type?
As Therapists, we must clarify the pain that you, as a client, experience.
Why? Because each case is tied to a certain tissue. However, the same discomfort (for example, muscular pain) may have a different interpretation or meaning for each client. Sometimes you can't describe it, which is also fine.

It helps us to use analogies or strong images to convey the severity of agony. Abstract explanations can sometimes help to make an experience more palpable.
For example: ‘It feels like fire beneath my skin, like waves of heat rushing over me.'' (nerve pain: burning sensation) or "When I stand up, it feels like someone is trying to push me down on my lower back." (hip flexor muscle tightness).
So, when you say, “It hurts here”, for us to understand your type of pain, it would be more helpful to use words such as those in the purple picture.
Reka specialises in treating muscle, joint, bone and nerve injuries, as well as offering Sports Massage.
