The Hive in Epping Forest - A Hidden Gem!

Our Clinic Manager Laura visited The Hive and had a lovely meeting with Anna Gordon (Centre and Partnerships Manager) and Louise Horsfall (Environmental Education Officer). With a tour around the centre and beautiful grounds that are so peaceful, it really is a special place to get back in touch with nature for adults and children alike. We discussed ways that we can work together going forwards through mindfulness and wellbeing.

The Hive (formally known as Suntrap) offers bespoke outdoor learning experiences for families, teachers and residential stays for schools with their unique pods based outside, giving children and young adults an opportunity to find a sense of independence, whilst learning to go back to basics and spending time with their peers. The focus is also to teach us how to protect nature and tackle our climate and ecological emergencies.

What's new?

The Hive are launching a new group for expectant and new parents, aimed at supporting their physical and mental wellbeing, through pregnancy and early-stage parenthood. They know that this can be a busy time and that looking after yourself first, is the best investment you can make but can be a challenge on your own.

Nature Nurture is set in the peaceful woodlands of Epping Forest and The Hive, where parents can feel they’ve had a mini holiday, just a short journey from home.

The Hive’s therapeutically trained practitioner specialises in nature-based wellbeing and knows how to much difference a short time in the forest can make. She has created this relaxed event, with a range of wellbeing activities, so you can choose what serves you and enjoy it at your own pace.

This will include:

·       Guided meditation and mindfulness techniques

·       Personal chill-out spaces and hammocks

·       Baby bases with simple sensory items to explore

·       Simple crafts for a bit of playfulness or relaxation

·       Chatting over a cuppa and being looked after

·       Opportunity to meet like-minded people and build a support network

·       Visitors such as SV Sports Therapy that specialise in Pregnancy Therapy and Massage.
